What is a niche?

Niche is not just any other topic without a scope. You can’t just write about literally anything and pray it will rank on Google. Things don’t work this way, dear.

A niche is a specific area, industry, or interest of the audiences.

You must keep yourself in the shoes of the audience and see if they will like the information or not. If you write about Donald Trump being kicked out of the USA, trust me, no one will read this, because it doesn’t excite them as much as Taylor Swift’s outfit for today’s concert during the ERA tour.

So, keep in mind your audience needs and what they would like to read about.

Parameters for a good niche research:

For good niche research you need to set the following parameter.

  • A niche that targets a specific audience.
  • Niche that differentiates yourself from others.

  • A good niche will allow you to make loyal followers and readers.

Examples of a good niche.

  1. A body builder or a fitness enthusiast who is interested in weightlifting.

Why niche research is important?

This is the same question that occurred to me when I started blogging. Well, I can answer you it in a very simple sentence “Because it makes you identify yourself.” And yeah, this one sentence can sum up pretty much everything.

In detailed description, niche research is important because of the following reasons.

Competition reduction:

By targeting a specific audience, you will be able to lower your competition and you will be better at standing out in the market. This will also help you in customizing your message to your focused market and target audience.

Higher conversion rate:

When you are targeting a specific audience, there are 90% chances of building a strong community. You can have a loyal audience who will read your blog posts or articles on a daily basis.

If we talk about high conversion in marketing, you will be able to build your loyal customer base and your products will sell more easily and effectively.

Good niche

Improved Revenue:

It’s not hidden that you can earn money loads of money from blogging. So, it’s simple the more readers you have, the stronger community you build the more revenue you will be able to generate.

In terms of marketing, your sales per product will increase and so will your revenue.

Expanded Branding:

A strong niche will be helpful for you to build a strong brand personality. For example, Taylor’s swift niche is singing, and her brand personality is being a singer. Even though she can be a youtuber or Tiktoker too, her niche was singing from the start. And we look at her micro niche, her micro niche is being a vocalist.

So, having a specific niche will help you build a strong branded community in the market and establish premium authority.

Before ending this article let’s take a quick look at “What are the best practices of doing niche research”

Best practices of doing niche research;

  • Start by researching broad topics and find topics that excite you. For example, at first, I started my health blog I later narrowed it down to mental health.
  • Avoid general niches that are too specific and too competitive to stand out. For example, Graphic designing and programming.
  • Try to write about evergreen topics within your niche. For example, I research about evergreen topics related to mental health and I wrote about those in my blog to make it more time worthy.
  • Most importantly, you should know what’s going on in the world. Keep an eye on going trends, try to relate them with your niche and write about it. For example, let’s assume today’s ongoing trend is Taylor Swift, so, I can write it in my health blog like this “Taylor Swift’s concert are effecting mental health?”
